By close of day tomorrow, Saturday May 18, the world would have known who is who in Ghana’s music industry as some of the country’s best musicians would be competing for honours at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).

Despite its controversies and seeming exploitative nature the VGMA is still arguably the biggest music awards event in the country and this may explain why the nominated musicians are jostling among themselves for the limited awards.

It therefore comes as no surprise that sensational gospel singer Herty Bongreat has some envious attacks from no other person than a fellow gospel singer, Gifty Osei.

Gifty did not make it to any of the categories this year and she has been rather vocal in campaigning against Herty and this has come as a surprise to many, especially followers of gospel music.

“I am not bothered by what Gifty says about me because when the grace of God is on you there is no need to be bothered by what any mortal being thinks about you… I was just laughing when I heard her on radio.

It is cool and that is normal. She was just expressing her opinion and like you know, we are all entitled to our opinions,” Herty responded to the hate-campaign from her colleague.

Nollywood actress, Uche Ogbodo has once again emphasized her readiness to go nude in a movie.

She reportedly said she won’t hesitate to play nude in a film if it makes sense to do so and would teach somebody a good lesson.

“I can do anything in acting. There is no limit to what I can do on stage as an actress because I’m a professional actress and I don’t care because that role I am playing can include touching somebody somewhere.

“If you give me a nude role that has something to teach people…I will do it. That is why I am an actress. I don’t care what people might say or think about me,” she was quoted by Nigeriafilms.com.

Uche has already positioned herself as one of Nollywood’s controversial figures. She knows when to say what.

She has recently said she does not smoke or drink any hard liquor because she is always high and doesn’t need a stimulant to feel high.

“I do not smoke and drink. I am just like that. Did I give you a wrong impression? People should not imply that I smoke or drink. I do not smoke or drink. I am high already, so I do not need any other thing to get me high. Spiritually, I am high, physically, I am over the roof,” she was quoted.

“Van has been operating this school for some time but it is not clear why he seems to be doing it under cover.

When you ask him, he tells you it is just a foundation to help people but he actually takes his students through acting and film making techniques after which he outsources them to various movie producers,” a source close to the actor told NEWS-ONE.

The report seems to confirm speculations that Van was recently recruiting acting instructors and that he was about to start an acting school in Nigeria.

But our source insisted the school has since been started in Ghana and that it is located near the La General Hospital in Accra.

The Ghanaian ‘lyrical wild cat’ Okra Tom Dawidi has sent his congratulatory message to R2Bees for their recent nomination in the 2013 Black Entertainment Television ( BET) awards.

The Tema-based music group, like their predecessors -KojoAntwi and Sarkodie- got nominated in the Best International Act (Africa) category.

They will face fierce competition from 2Face Idibia (Nigeria), ToyaDelazy (South Africa), Radio and Weasel (Uganda), Ice Prince (Nigeria) and Donald (South Africa).

But Okra Tom in an interview with NEWS ONE stated that he believes the ‘Walahi’ hitmakers have already made Ghana proud by getting nominated in the first place.

“R2Bees made the whole Ghana proud the very day they got nominated at the BET.

I want to congratulate them for their hard work and efforts to place Ghana on the road map. Big ups to my brothers,” the ‘Winner’ singer noted.

“I get very happy when I see my brothers in the music industry selling Ghana on the global level.

In the past, Ghana was known for Gold, Cocoa and other things but now when you mention Ghana, everybody starts to think of ‘Azonto’ and that is also a good thing.

We all must take our music serious and sell it on a global level,” Okra said.

The ‘Beela Trap’ singers got nominated in various categories at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) including Artiste of the Year, Vodafone Ghana Song of the Year, Hip-Hop Song of the Year, Hip-Life Song of the Year, Hip-Life/Hip-Hop Artiste of the Year, Highlife Song of the Year, Best Group of the Year and Best Male Vocal Performance.

Okra Tom Dawidi is currently in the studio working on several tracks on his ‘comeback’ album titled ‘Winner for Life’.
